I’d wager ttyymmnn has covered this, but this was my first exposure to this near- disaster. The pilot’s account is a gripping read even without any clue on my part as to how an airplane flies (or doesn’t).

An equipment subst itution was made, and the crew and passengers continued on to their destination.
Uh.....no....break out the beverage cart and hit me with a few bottles. I’m staying in LAX tonight.
